Default Husband hit curb, and part is dragging, HELP

Hello.. I am wondering if someone knows the correct name of a part my husband just broke. He was flying up the driveway, and hit the wood "curb" at the top, and now a dark gray, large part is hanging. My neigbhor helped him take it off, and it basically has two screws that hold it up, and it runs under the front of the car, my neigbhor said it is like a splash guard, that protects from puddles, and also covers the radiator and I think the alternator. Also, any suggestions to where I can get one cheap. It's a 1998 S70.. I looked on ebay, but since I don't know the name of the part, I did not find anything. I also was thinking a junk yard may have one, but again, it would help if I knew what it was called. Thanks very much!

You’re looking for an ENGINE SPLASH SHIELD. Your probably going to have to go to a junk yard to find one it’s not a commonly stocked part. Good luck

Here is a good source http://www.car-part.com/index.htm

I could not find it on car-part.com and it does not look like the Driver's Side or Passenger side Splash Shield's I am looking at on Ebay. I don't know if this is a part number, but on it I read Volvo 916 93 83
Under it says: 14562
and to the right: PPT20
I don't know if this is meaningful to anyone.. also, is it okay that I drive around for about a week or so without it? Until I can locate the part?

You should be ok driving like that infinitely the problem is that your belt and hose life will decrease because that shield protects those parts from water and road grime which causes erosion on those parts. Your problably gonna have to look in your lcal junk yard or pay the big bucks at the dealer for the parts and install yourself should be very easy

I have looked online and my local junk yards (7 of them) One admits to having the part.. but was reluctant to sell it to me.. he agreed to $125 (first said the part was impossible to find and one of his staff has been looking for five years!! (Which I really did not believe, these cars are not that rare).. does that sound too much for basically a large piece of molded plastic that's taken off a junked car? Online I can only seem to find a different part that is driver or passenger side, while my part runs underneath the whole front of the car.. I am suprised this is so difficult.. (Oh, I am in NJ).. any tips would be appreciated. Thanks..

That should be it. Tell him not to fly up the driveway next time. Last time something like that happened, it missed my splash guard and plowed through my oil pan, cost me $1000 to fix.(Was a rock)
