Na, leave it off. Its the overdrive switch.

If you are passing someone, and want more speed, hit the button then. Or, you know, if you like that arrow a lot you could leave it on. It is a pretty shade of orange.

That is the overdrive button for the trans. When the light is off, your transmission is basiclly a 4speed transmission. When you push the button and the light is on, you are using only the transmission with no overdrive feature (4th gear).

better mpgs if you leave the OD enabled.

So, you really should leave it on all the time? Sounds like the engine is working harder when its lit up. I know nothin about cars, so i'm not saying you're wrong. I just didn't know that.

Here is a better description:

the A-70/1 automatic transmission is a 4-speed transmission, but, unless the overdrive solenoid is energized, it is by default a 3-speed automatic transmission. When you hit the overdrive button what really happens is you de-energize the solenoid, disabling 4th gear; you get a downshift to 3rd gear and the up-arrow light on the instrument panel.

What TIPSP is trying to say is leave the button alone...DO NOT LIGHT UP THE ARROW!! Keep it off this way you have all 4 gears to use which makes the engine work less at high speeds and gives better gas mileage etc. Also, if arrow ever lights up on its own...means your 4th gear is not working(overdrive) and you need to get it fixed...
