Default 92 240 finding the fuel pump relay switch?

After getting help from a few people on this excellent web site. I still have the same problem with my fuel pump only working when it feels like it. I have gone through the pump itself, but now I'm in search of the fuel pump relay. I was told by one person it was located on the passenger firewall. This was on an earlier model. Does anyone know where the fuel pump relay is on a 1992 240 wagon????

Is should be where it was explained. Under the dash by the firewall on the passenger side.
The early models were on the drivers side.

Someone may have it tucked up pretty high.

If it's a B230 engine, LH-Jetronic 2.2 or 2.4, it's behind the ash tray and fuse tray. Go to www.stepbystepvolvo.com for free guide to diagnoising 740 no-starts, which shows location of fuel injection relay.

Tech's right. Passenger firewall/floorboard area. Remove the clips from the liner beneath the glovebox and let that liner down easy so it doesn't flex and break. If the relay is mounted properly, you'll find it clipped to a bar against the firewall. The relay is either orange or white, about 2"x2" square.

If it's been evaluated before, sometimes it's stuffed up under the liner (loosely) beneath the glovebox. Check the relay by grasping it, with the other hand crank the engine. You should feel and hear the relay click if the gate is cycling properly. If not, it's usually time for a new one.

One more thing: check that 25-amp fuse, inside drivers'-side fenderwell of engine bay, usually mounted on a clip. It runs both fuel pumps. I had one that looked fine. Pulled and replaced it and presto...solved it. Over time, engine heat takes it's toll on that fuse.

Good luck...
