Hello,
My brother-in-law's volvo died on him the other day when he was driving down the road. He said his radio and guages flickered and then his car died.

It sounded like his altenator was bad so I took that off and had it tested. It was putting out 11 amps at max and was showing blown diodes when the shop tested it. They said it should have been putting out 80 amps. Since it was bad I ordered a new alt and replaced it.

Nothing....the car turns but will not fire up. I checked the battery and it is fully charged. I checked two of the 4 plugs and they looked in alright shape.

Is there a checklist of items to check out for this problem? I am now at a loss at why his car is not firing up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's probably the same thing that is happening to mine. I have a 1991 940 Turbo and when i was driving it did the same thing. It turns out it could be the fuel pump relay thats up under the dash board behind the fuses, the RPM singnal censor behind the bell housing, and then the possibility of the radio surpression relay.
