Default 93' 940 diagnosis

Hello everyone! I own a 93' 940 turbo. Recently I have noticed that my car doesn't seem to want to coast anymore. The engine runs smooth but whenever I drive it, the engine feels like its working over-time. The tach shows normal rpm's. Whenever I take my foot off the gas at high-way speeds the car immediately loses speed as if it were in a higher gear. I check the trans fluid and its healthy. Changed the oil 1,000 miles ago. Boost seems to be working though it doesn's seem like its giving as much as before. There are no vacuum leaks that I am aware of. I drove at high, low, medium speed all on different grades but whenever I let off the pedal copletely, the car feels like its in a higher gear. I have no idea what would be causing my engine to feel like its working harder than what the tach shows. Maybe I am really paranoid but I have only just noticed this recently. What really gets me is that the car actually slows down while going down hill in highest gear(4th). Any help or pointers in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I also meant to mention that these conditions are consistent through all speeds and load situations. Thanks again.

Hmm.... I got the same bit of paranoia a while back after seeing how well my sisters 850 coasted compared to my 940. I was happy to forget about it. Now I am thinking about it again.

Have you bumped the transmission into neutral while at highway speeds and letting off of the gas? Any unusual noises, say, from the rear end? Trying coasting in neutral versus in gear somewhat isolates the transmission as being the culprit. If it slows appreciably faster in gear than in neutral you may have one or more brake calipers dragging. After driving at highway speeds, pull over and put your hand on/near the wheels and see if any of them are warm/ hot. Dragging brakes get pretty warm. It's possible the emergency brakes are hung even if the handle is down.

Thanks swiftjustice. I was thinking that maybe the E-brake was stuck but I never got around to checking that. Will definitely try your techniques and report back. I just hope its nothing major.
