Default 93 940 TURBO leaking coolant.

Just found out my beloved wagon is leaking coolant. I caught it before it ran too dry thankfully.

I can see its leaking from this thing that is attached to the hose that runs into the firewall. (i presume that the heater core) Its like a plastic circular thing that is hose clamped to the hoses.

Any ideas?

Where on the firewall is it located? It is on the passenger side, the driver side, or in the middle behind the engine.

I think it is your heater control valve the one that is causing your leak and not the heater core. Google heater control valve and let me know if that is the part that you are seeing above the starter. It is circular and made out of plastic like you described, which leads me to believe that that is the part. It is a much simpler and cheaper repair than if it was the heater core the one that needed replacing.

there's two hoses through the firewall, and one of them has the heater valve on it, is that whats leaking?

the heater valve is just visible in this picture,

its the round thing behind the two cables in the upper right quadrant of that picture.

the actual valve is inline in the one hose, the round thing on top of it is the vacuum actuator.

this picture is from a 1991 turbo, but my 1992 is pretty close to the same.

note in that picture, the transmission control cable, which is the blacker cable that goes down between the two heater hoses is distinctly bent coming off its ferrule. this is what I was taking the picture of last year, my kid had to repair his heater core, and misrouted that cable, which caused transmission shifting problems.... that cable should have gone OVER both heater hoses, so it didn't have the sharp bend at the ferrule center left.

IPD is also a fast ship, and quite reliable, with great service. been buying stuff from them for years. they, and fcpeuro, are my two goto sources for aftermarket parts.

for volvo brand stuff, I get them from TascaParts.com or www.volvopartswebstore.com but expect these orders to take a lot longer. if I need volvo brand stuff in a hurry, I go to a local dealer and pay the premium.

there's some things that I only like real Volvo, and that includes most engine seals, rubber bits, and so forth.
