94 940 Turbo White Residue around turbo mount????

Default 94 940 Turbo White Residue around turbo mount????

I have seen this on my Turbo mount where it bolts to the head .... it's a White power residue - what is this from? has anyone else had this or knows what it is from?

sounds like metal oxides from electrolysis, although I suppose it could be coolant residue.

One tech said it could be from running lean and heating turbo .. I did pull a small trailer in the mountains and it worked Kind of hard ... dont have any white smoke or any other signs

It's water traces residue. When you start the car quite a bit of vapor water immediately materializes, then it dries and over time shows up like white powder-- don't worry if there are no other signs.
