I am a newbie here... traditionally have been a Saab/VW guy, and this is my first Volvo. Here is my problem, seems there is a metal bracket on each side of the sunroof, that is open ended toward the front of the car. It is visible when the sunroof is vented up. On one side it is cracked and the back part of the bracket is loose and I think that is what is preventing the sunroof from retracting back. (I think these brackets may keep the back of the roof panel from sinking below the roof line or popping up. Either way, the panel will try to slide back but then stops. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

 

My 960 developed this problem 2 days ago but I have not had time to dig in yet. If I do before someone else helps, I'll post back.

 

well, as i was trying to figure it out, the back half of that metal clip (the part that has the stopper that keeps the sunroof panel level with the roof) fell off from where it is hinged, now the sunroof slides back and forth fine. Just doesn't stay level with the roof all the time, but it didn't before either since it wasn't connected to the rest of the mechanism.
