First thing, use punctuation so people can understand what you are talking about!

there's no ODBC-II plug on a 940, ODBC-II was introduced in 1996. all 940's have a primitive Onboard diagnostic port with a jumper wire and a LED and button, thats all the code reader you need. put the jumper wire in pin 2 to read EFI codes and pin 6 to read ignition codes. press the button for 2 seconds, release it, and count the pattern of blinks. 1-1-1 means no code. if you do get a code, press it for another 2 seconds, and see if you get a different code, repeat until the first code is shown again.

your symptoms could be ignition problems, fuel injection problems, air manifold leaks, most anything.

Do you have the A and B diagnostic ports under the hood mounted to the left strut tower?

LH2.4 simply does not support ODBC-II, so I dunno what that port is under your dashboard.

well thouhgt it was but mite be wrong its a 23 se turbo estate 940 august 95 its just typical thats when scrapped the little black box and went obd socket from wot i can gather its in the center console between two front seats im thinking it mite be diferent software or smmut because its early modle mk2 the tps clicks iac worked wen clamped pipe air mas made it worse wen unplugged so probly works seems to run for around 10 seconds before stopping from cold when u do get it warmed up cuts out when stopping first quarter of throttle will sputter then other times will shoot off then like just die off noticed that summtimes dipping clutch seems to bring it back on the throttle rpm senser on bell housing would of been easy if odb worked thaks bud

is this a world market car or USA ? 1995 was the last model year for US 940's, and by august, they'd started making model year 1996 850's and 960s, there was no US model 1995 940SE (other than a 1991 940SE which was really a 960 with the b230ft turbo)

the LH2.4 fuel injection control unit, and the EZ116K ignition control module simply did not have the logic or CPU power in them to create ODBC-II codes.

I'm having a really hard time understanding your streamed together misspelled and unpunctuated statements, it makes my head hurt to try.

as far as your symptoms go, those could be, as I said, caused by air leaks in the intake pair path (basically anywhere between the MAF and the head, cracked plastic airpipe bellows, cracked idle air controller hoses, etc), or it could be ignition system problems (bad/old coil, distributor cap+rotor+dust shield, or spark plugs, spark plug wires)), it could be insufficient or too much fuel pressure (weak fuel pumps, clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pressure regulator). or it could be something entirely different.

The self diagnostics port for a b230 fk euro right hand drive car is shown in the parts diagram. It's #29 and mounted between the strut tower and the firewall under the hood. The next step will be learning how to read it if you don't have the old volvo scan tool. You can learn how to retrieve, and interpret those codes on this page https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/read-codes-volvo-850/

IMHO, the Hayes books are not reliable.
