940 oil pan pull tips
I just completed pulling my oil pan to replace the pickup tube seals on the pump. My oil pressure is back within a good range and my warm valve chatter is gone. I tried to follow the instructions on Brickboard
https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-9...andReplacement
but could not remove the cross member bolts. I almost bent a 1/2 inch breaker bar trying to loosen those nuts. So I tried the second method(without pulling the cross member) which worked as far as getting the pump out. But I tried for 4 hrs trying to blindly reinstall it and line up the pickup tube. I had the engine raised as much as it would go and no luck. Then I notice a rubber bump stop between the pan and the crossmember. As soon as I unbolted that the pan fell through. Reinstalling the pump and aligning it was a breeze at that point. But the next big hurdle was getting the pan back on which has to be turned 90 degrees. So I followed the other suggestion given and trimmed a little of the baffle inside the pan away with a dremel tool. Then it went right back up and I was done. It was a 6 hr job that could have been done in an hour if I had known this. Hope this helps anyone contemplating this.
