940 Overdrive Solenoid
How difficult is it to replace the overdrive solenoid on a 940, what's involved? I am a solid mechanic, but I don't want to get over my head with the tranny. I change my own fluid but that's it for trannys and me, at least up to this point... Any input?
Simple; located on the left side high on the trans;
Held on with 2 12MM bolts. Angle is tight; and may need a
bent 12MM wrench.
Test the relay; by removing the cover; and manually clicking
the magnetic lever.
Before you pull it; test it first with a 12V+ direct lead.
Before you re-assemble; blow out the air passages.
If your solenoid unit is dead; remove the plunger; and it
will be full time overdrive.
Good luck. And use jack stands for safety
