Default 940 rear spoiler

Does anyone know a good after market vendor that sells rear spoilers like those on 1993 turbos?

Those spoilers were a Volvo accessory and are no longer available new anywhere. You can find them used, junkyards, swap meets, etc. Saw some at the IPD Garage Sale last weekend.
Europe? The same.

That's actually a pic of a BMW. I'd definitely want to see a pic of the actual one before I buy. In all, I found 6 different companies selling aftermarket spoilers, so I would think one of them must be decent.

The Volvo OEM accessory spoiler first available on the 740SE, and later, a different style, on the 940/960 line was made by Schnitzer in Germany and I doubt you can touch a Schnitzer spoiler for anywher near a $100... These days Asian aftermarket crap is available for anything at low prices. I wouldn't put it on my car, but then I am into maintaining the quality and integrity of the marque. That, I realize means little to nothing to many, so, to each his own...

Or just get some faded and cracked 940 stock one on there for period correct beater-ness!

I guess these guys who put Ford and Chevy V-8;s in their Volvos ought to be shot. Good thing Paul Newman's not around.

Look, I am far from wanting anybody "shot"... I have my opinions, you have yours, let's leave it at that. I am not into sniping and antagonism about anything, least of all Volvos. Please, do whatever you want, hang whatever you want on your car. You ask questions, I have 30+ years Volvo experience, I try to share it. If you don't want it, I really couldn't care less.

There are TWO OEM 940 rear spoilers for sale on the Portland, OR Craiglist, $40 each.

silly question, do they use stronger trunk springs on the cars with spoilers, to offset the greater weight ?

we had a S90 (same basic chassis/body as a 940) and I took it up to about 125 once, and it was rock stable without any spoiler, so IMHO, a spoiler is silly on these.

I wouldn't think these spoilers would be heavy enough to warrant stronger springs.

I view roof racks like I do rear spoilers, neat on the right cars but not worth the drilling. Plus Volvos are pretty square to begin with, I dunno why you'd want to add drag.

I am going to perpetuate a rumor that there MAY be stronger struts for a spoiler trunk.

$40 for a used cracked/faded one all day long! Otherwise pay $$$ for something from Europe that will actually look good.

sedans use springs and cantilever hinges. only wagons have gas struts.

I think the rear end of a 940 looks better than the rear of a 740 but it looks even better with a spoiler. Without one it looks kind of plain, to me. With one it seems to complete the look.

Let us know how the craigslist spoilers go. Imo, the best 940s were the wagons with honey comb wheels.
