940 SE Instrument cluster (does not conform)
Tonight on a whim I decided to pull my gauge cluster to see if I could fix my on/off speedo problem. It's removal does not conform to any of the tutorials I found, as there are two little plastic cover clips in the roof of the bezel, upon removal reveal two simple phillips screws, which I removed. The bezel though, is quite stuck, it's started to come down from the top, but it's quite long and covers up the AC vents, I'm afraid to yank on it anymore for fear of breaking it... any hints??? Edit: Maybe it's cuz it's a 960 in disguise... will look at those.

indeed, the 940SE is actually a 960 turbo-4. it was a transition model, filled the niche of the 760 turbo.
the 960's (and later 760s) have significantly different innards... the dashboard, and dash wiring harnesses, and relay and fuse panels, etc etc are completely different than the 740/940. they also have more chassis sound proofing.

Just follow instructions for a 960 instrument panel removal...
The bezel has phillips screws inside the vents, at least two if memory serves... They are up there, have to point the vents fully up to see them, the upper left and one or two on the extreme right. Then there are clips so it takes some prying to pull the bezel out.
