940 Turbo A/C fan takes a break! A fix?
One of my Volvos, a 1991 940SE, a TURBO actually, has the very annoying feature of shutting off the A/C and the FAN under acceleration. Now, I believe that that's on purpose- in order to deliver the most power the system shuts off the extra load from the A/C and I can appreciate the thought but this happens under even the SLIGHTEST acceleration! So, if you are climbing a long even slightgrade forget about the A/C! I was wondering if anyone has dealt with a similar problem and whether there is a solution of some type. By the way the SE has the Automatic Climate Control System like a 960...

I have the exact same car with the same dilema. Do you have any idea how many of these cars were built and what was so special about them. My brother gave me the one I currently own and I really hate the climate contrrol and how it works. I have been tryinmg to find the relay that disables the A/C during pass center exceleration.
If you figure this thing out please shre the knowledge

Well, the SE was only in1991 and is a kind of, well, "special" Volvo...Actually I had a regular 1991 940 Turbo and it had the same Climate Feature which I hate, so I am not sure about how exclusive THAT A/C problem is. But apart from that there are a lot of parts on the SE that are different form the regular 940, the most important being the rear suspension which in this case is independent. The negative is that certain parts are very hard to come by since they are dealer only and not available through the regular channels... I am not sure if it's a relay that controls that- I have to do some research on it...
