Default 940 turbo stalls when hot.

My 98 2.3 turbo 940 runs fast (1500 + rpm) when started cold, then stalls at junctions when hot . I have replaced the fuel pump relay and air mass meter. Makes no difference.
The fuel pump relay (both old and new) gets very hot to touch. The 2 relays in the first row of relays (on left side of rack) behind fuses under radio also get very hot.
When hot if I unplug the air mass meter the engine idles fine untill the car stops and is started again.
Help please, any ideas would be great.

Well, how hot is hot, vs warm? That shouldn't make your idle high, anyway, hot or not.

Idle control valve? Good place to start.

Air leak after the MAFS? If too much air comes in, computer sends corresponding fuel, etc.
