Default 940 Turbo, station wagon, automatic, 1998 model

While i am driving my car in between 40 to 80 speed (KM) i feel lot of vibrations through the engine. Have got the suspension checked up. no problem in that.

The moment i cross 100 KM speed there is no vibration in the car. Have also balanced out the tires along with the wheel balancing. I think the gear box mounting is weak and touches the body of the car when it is moving in between 40 to 80 km of speed.

Shall be grateful if anyone can give me a tip to get rid of this problem. I love my volvo and want to keep it for ever.....

I think you are on the right track.Check the trans mount you should be able to see if it is bottomed out on the crossmember.

Also check the engine mounts. If they are weak or shot then the oil pan will rub on the front suspension crossmember.

I had a problem like that on an earlier 940 and it turned out to be the driveshaft center bearing. It seemed to seek it's center at different speeds and run smoothly.

Dear Tec & Buck

Thanks for your feedback. First i am going to change the gear box mounting, then will work out on the center bearing of the drive shaft. Will keep you updated with the progress.
Thanking you once again

I started from the gear box mounting and it solved the purpose. The car is now having a silky drive. No more vibrations. I think "TEC" under your guidance i am also getting half mec.

Well thanks to all of you once again.....
