Default Accelerator Hesitation

I have a peculiar problem with my 89 240. It's been driving fine since i got it about three months ago. But we recently had a really bad rain storm in which some streets were mildy flooded and had to drive home throught. Long story short, i'm sure a lot of stuff got wet. When i tried to start it again (still raining) it started fine, but the when i pushed the accelerator, nothing would happen, it would run at basically an idle, no more, no less, then i'd hear a pop/click, and it would go for about a second and start idling again. After a few minutes of this it would run fine. The next day it did the same thing for a while but has been running fine since.

My initial thought was dirty fuel injectors but i can't think that it's a coincidence that it happened with all the rain. Is there something that could be affected by the moisture to cause this hesitation? Maybe it dried up as it ran and corrected itself?

any help would be appreciated.

Just sounds like the engine was wet.
The ignition wire don't like to be wet.
