accessing in tank fuel filter 90 240
Still more holiday PM on my kids Volvo. For the record, apparently the Volvo factoryfilter can last 19 years and about 180,000 miles before it gets totally clogged. Having said that it looks like a 2 hour bear getting into the tank to inspect the sock. Does the electrical plug just pull off becauseitdoesn't seem to want to come off without a fight,
....or considering the age and reputation of the wiring harness, is it better to leave a working part alone?

RE: accessing in tank fuel filter 90 240
update: someone just offerd me a VERY good price on a 1990 240DL 80K miles, one owner but thefuel gauge is busted. So now I REALLY need to know how to get the sending unit out.
I saw a post on how to hot wire the plug in the trunk to check if it's thewires or dash gauge before I replace the sending unit but now I can't find the post.

go into the trunk remove the carpet there is a small silver plate in the middle take it off pry if nessecary you will see three metal things sticking out mine had two hoses attached take them off figure out wich way the metal ring spins i think its to the left use a flat head and hammer to drive it backwards you can figure out wich way by looking at it after you do that move the metal ring out of the way after that you should be able to pull the sending unit up heres the tricky part figureing out how to manuver it out it might take you a while mine comes out different every time. i have a 89 240 gl the gas tank lasted until this year i replaced the sending unit the tank both filters and pumps BE CAREFUL not to break any wires like the two connected to the top of the pump i did had to improvise let me know if this helps. and.........the wires are able to be pulled apart there is a black box to the left of the silver plate open it up

While you're banging on the metal tabs with your metal screwdriver and metal hammer, take care not to cause a spark and burn your neighbor's house down.
