Default Air Conditioning issues 90 740 GL

Ok so I recharged my AC and began driving, it didnt take long to notice a strange event that keeps reoccurring. When I accelerate the ac stops blowing and then starts back after I let off of the gas a bit. Is this normal?

What stops blowing, the fan, or cold air/the compressor?

It's unrelated to the recharging, I believe. There is a small check valve that has failed. Engine vacuum controls the air flaps in the car. At wide open throttle, there is basically no engine vacuum. There is a check valve on a large tube that comes off the intake manifold, then goes to a smaller one. That's the part. It's regularly kinda disc-like and white towards the manifold and black on the side that's away from the manifold. Here's one: Climate Control Check Valve

I would check locally first.

IMHO, you have a failed/leaking vacuum motor under the dash. However, the vacuum motor that fails is supposed to be a PITA to replace. If you are willing to do without full floor air, you can solve the problem by plugging the yellow vacuum hose (I used a broken spark plug) which is located on the driver's side above and to the right of the accelerator pedal. You will still get some air to the floor by going to the position that splits the air between the dash vents and the floor; you just won't have it going to the floor only, and your A/C will blow all the time through your dash vents, even under full acceleration, as it's supposed to.

If that's true, there will be a hissing from under the dash that you can listen for. I fixed the very one you are talking about with bicycle tire tube vulcanizing compound. It works wonderfully now, but it was a pain the pull and reinstall.

i dont hear no hissing sound under the dash, I was going to try the climate check valve first since it is pretty cheap and an easy fix, plus the one under the hood dosent look the greatest anyways

do all the air flaps work properly, as you turn the air control ****, air goes up the defroster, out the main dash vents, and out the foot vents as appropriate? if not, then probably the vacuum control line to the dash is leaky or something (those things are all vacuum activated)

I am having the exact same problem with my 91 740 turbo wagon. The vents work great at idle and they switch from floor to vent to defroster with no problem but as soon as I drive the vehicle they quit blowing out of whatever vent is chosen. When I come to a stop it starts blowing again. I couldnt find that check valve anywhere but I havent looked real hard yet. Gonna mess with it today. I live in CA so we must have good working a/c here! If I figure it out I will post it.

definitely sounds like you've got a vacuum problem. turbos have negative vacuum (positive pressure) when they are spun up, so a turbo car generally has a vacuum reservoir, and a check valve for exactly this.

I found the problem with my a/c it is a vacuum operated bellows/servo under the dash on the drivers side. There is 3 of them and it is the one with a red vac line going to it, it has a slow leak. I put a vac pump on it and only holds for like 30 seconds, I was told that they are a real pita to replace so I am looking to add a vac cannister to just that 1 line. I will probably get a cannister off of a 240 at the salvage yard and install it behind the glove box. I will let you know how and if it works.
