Any experience with Volvo branded MAF at IPD?
In my eternal struggle to find a MAF / AMM that actually ****ing works..... I see IPD has a Volvo branded part that goes for about $300... says its a "new style" sensor that is common to the ones on LH3.1 systems.
They say its a direct replacement... but admit that for "unknown reasons" they dont work on "some cars"
Volvo part number is 8251497
Has ANYONE used this part OR know where I can get a proper MAF?
All I can find are non-Volvo or non-Bosch parts and the ones I have tried so far arent making it.

Found same at Pelican Parts

Looks like a few places carry this "Genuine Volvo" part...
My fear is that this is just another cheap Chinese part with a Volvo sticker on it... but paying 2x the $ for it and its not returnable... hell of a gamble

What year car do you have? Reading further on the Pelican Parts site it seems that the AMM you are referring fits only LH 2.4 and LH 3.1 fuel injection systems - which means 240s 1989 and later.
Somewhere I read that the LH 3.1 style AMM will work on LH 2.4 systems but I have never tried.

The fitment should be ok then. Can't say I have tried any of these Volvo-branded replacements but it's getting to the point that it is all that is available. I would always pick up BOSCH spares at the junkyard when I would find them but around me you don't see these cars in the junkyard anymore. If given the choice of a new off-brand vs. a Volvo-branded part, I would go with the Volvo part.

I've seen 3 different kinds, and the difference is in the sensor; either a wire or piece of metal that sits in the airflow and sends its state to the ECU.
One type (that I believe is the original), has a two-pronged fork upon which the sensor's resistive wire is strung, which places it in the middle of the air flow.
The second type has a thin metal vane that sticks up into the air flow.
The third type has a circuit-board looking thing sticking up into the air flow with a strange-looking component hanging in a gap in the circuit board, that I believe is the part that functions much like the wire or metal vane of the other types.
The big difference is that the third type, since it doesn't have a wire to burn debris off of, will always fail the burn-off and leave you with a 3-2-2 code. If you can shrug that off, it works just fine. That's the type I got from IPD and NAPA. O'Reilly got me one of the second type and it didn't work at all, so I did a warranty return and got another of the same type that worked fine until I wrecked the car in October '21.
