Default Auto computer run with manual box?

Hey guys im looking at dropping a b230ft into my 242 gt and running it with the m46 box in it. I am getting the motor out of a complete 740 turbo and i am wanting to know if the computer out of that will run with the manual box or what will need to be done in order for it to work.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is the info I found: 740 Model did come with a 4 speed manual...but probably with a non turbo engine.

All I can think of is grabbing the bell housing from the 740...I don't know what year is your 242 and if it is after 1980 it might bolt up but I don't know for sure...
That M45/6 you have on in your 242 will be the weak link with your turbo engine....I have an M45 and it is not the greatest....
also, I am thinking you need to use the 8 spring clutch...instead of the 4 spring clutch..?or you might just be ok with the 4 spring clutch assigned to the old 4 speed M45

Volvo 740 1984-1992 models

Engine 2.0 L I4
2.0 L turbo I4
2.3 L I4
2.3 L turbo I4
2.4 L diesel I6
2.4 L turbodiesel I6
Transmission 4-speed automatic
4-speed manual
5-speed manua

The computer is the same for stick and auto. My car is a manual 740 turbo of the 89 model year. You'll need the fuel injection computer as well as the ignition computer. What year 740 are you pulling from?

thanks for the replies guys.
I know that the boxes arent too great but im not looking for stupid power out of it straight up. will eventually look at a supra box. whats your thoughts on the 8 spring clutch? do you think its necessary and what are they out of?

thats great news about the computer! actually really excited to hear that. im not too sure of the year yet as im still looking at a few different cars.

thanks again

Use whatever clutch you had on the M45/6 ...whatever that was, an eight or four. My thoughts were on having problems with the tranny compatibility...not so much the engine...

Use the flywheel that came with the tranny....

I did the following research:

1987 Volvo 740 with a 4 speed + OD...uses the 4 spring clutch.....so once you have the 740 year...do a clutch search for that year by going to the following sites...

fcpeuro.com or ipdusa.com and type in the 740 info with an M45/6 manual trans...include OD...you will get the right clutch.....
