Question Automatic shift **** replacement?

Hello!

I just bought a great 1995 940, really the only issues with this car involve interior cosmetics. For example, the (rubber?) material ball on the automatic shift **** is completely chipped and worn away. I tried doing a search on ebay for "Automatic shift ****" on my car, but only standard ***** come up.

Any ideas on how I can replace this? Is it too big of a job to justify with cosmetic issues?

REMOVING GEAR SHIFT ****
ADIS instruction:
Pull **** straight upward from the lever.
Considerable force is required to remove the ****.
I'd pop out the OD button and use some lubricant to free things up--these ***** are on there TIGHT!

Does this apply to the automatic gear shift lever? Your link to ebay presents the same issue, these are all for standard shift levers. They do not include the single button to shift out of Park on an automatic transmission.

Thanks!

Don't know how that ebay link even got in there...
These instructions are for the automatic shifter removal.

does this 95 940 have hte 'handle' style gearshifter, with the park lock on the front side and the OD button on the back side, or is it the older style thats more of a rectangular **** with the park latch button on top, and the OD button on the left side?

newer style:

older style:

both look to be pushed on. I bet getting it really warm with a hot air gun before removing would greatly help.

It is the newer handle style. Thanks for the info this should be really helpful. Now the only problem is that I can't find a shift lever that will work in this car, apart from the OEM, which is $75 on ipd and I can't find it anywhere else. No aftermarket shift ***** seem to be compatible with this, as the button is on the front.

you might try tascaparts.com or volvopartswebstore.com both are actual volvo dealers that sell dealer parts online at a discount, and are often cheaper than IPD or FCPeuro.

or, troll junkyards.
