Hello, I have a 1990 volvo sedan non turbo 740. I was told this car is w/o crack sensor notch. The trans is trash. Today at boneyard saw 1989 740 wagon turbo trans there w/o engine or torque conterver. An easy pull. They want 90 dollars, 143,00 miles. Pull dipstck it is pink. Question does this have notch for crank sensor or does it matter. Plate says 03-71 1208. Is a new torque converter pricey. Any help would be great. Thanks, Bill

they should both be AWs. Torque converters are not that much, and why can't you reuse yours? Sounds like a good deal...

Default volvo shop said

The volvo shop said metal fileings in trans fluid. They said trans is no good. And if I was to swap it out to get new torque converter also. They did not go into details on how to tell if torque converter is bad.

It may or may not be ok-hard to tell. When somebody opines about "metal fileings", all transmissions have them, to a point... Obviously a $90 tranny is a gamble in all cases.
