Babe Rally 2008 In My 86' 740
Hey all just wanted to post on something that i found. Come memorial day wekend 2008 there is a rally from new york to N.O. Over 4 days and the car you enter must cost $250 or less. I have my 86 740 GLE 4 speed im thinking of useing. ITs got a mear 209K on it but i think it will make it there and back. The only thing im worried about is the clutch, i am relativly new to standard cars and just wanted to know how much a pain in the butt it would be to replace the clutch if need be. Is the clutch slipping now? or acting funny?
If it's not slipping I say GO FOR IT!
on My HoneyMoon My clutch gave out at Deals Gap (aka Tail of the dragon) one of the shock springs popped out of the clutch disk. I was able to drive the car from Gatlinburg TN to Meridian MS. but by the time I got home I was unable to shift because I couldn't disengage the clutch. when I tore it down this is what I found....

if it is acting up a used clutch and fly wheel from a "U-Pull-it" Junk yard would work.
