What are the major problems of the 244's? I am trying to help out a friend who just bought a 1984 244 DL, I'm totally new to volvos, as I am a mkiii Toyota Supra guy, lol! Supras have the infanous head gasket problem, is there any major flaw like this associated with the 244 DL?? And the car is an Auto conversion, with 160,000 miles on it. Anyway, any help is appreciated!! Thanks!!

 

They are pretty much Bullet proof if taken care of well.

Really the only thing I can think of is Poor A/C. The sweeds Know their Heat but not A/C on the older cars.

 

I've only had my 240 a couple months, and the only things that have gone wrong with it are the things that annoy you, but dont stop the car from functioning right. My blower motor was bad when I first got the car and I've heard thats one of the few things thats a pain to replace on these cars. Other than that its just been little electrical things here and there.
