Default Big guy, need some driver's seat leg room

I'm a pretty big guy, 6'1" and 295lbs, and on the driver's seat of every 240 I've ever had, I would need probably 2 more inches rear travel on the adjustment to achieve the perfect driving position.

Since I've now found 2 240's (91 sedan, 92 wagon) I plan to keep until I take a dirt nap, I'd like to tweak them to perfection.

Has anyone ever done a mod like this? What would it entail? How would I go about this without compromising safety?

Thanks,
Fig

Hey Fig, I am 6'6" and I have moved the mounting bolts back on several Volvos. I take the seat out and precisely measure back for all four bolts how ever much i want to move it back. I usually move it 3 or 4 inches. There are 2 floor panels you have to drill through. I go through both panels and use graded bolts with threadlocker to make sure they don't loosen up. If you don't want to drill through your floor, I have used four steel plates and put the existing bolts through them and put new bolts on the back side of the strips and it's just as secure As far as safety goes the seat belt is mounted to the seat but with graded bolts and all that you will be probably even safer. Volvos use to claim they were built for 6 foot Swedes but anymore it seems they just need more leg room.

Buck,

Thank you for the how-to!
I probably won't drill through the floor, but I'll use the "modified modification" you outlined.

I'm going to really enjoy tweaking these cars out!

Regards,
Ben/Fig
