Black oxide finish on OEM yellow zinc fasteners
Hi all,
I'm trying to replace all the corroded parts on my volvo 88 245 that were originally plated in yellow zinc (probably hex chrome), but when I ordered new suspension parts they come in a black oxide-looking finish. from reading on black oxide finish it says that they are unsuitable for corrosion resistance to outside exposure. so basically are the new nuts and bolts volvo putting out for the 240 not as good in terms of corrosion resistance as the original? and in fact might be unsuitable for outside exposure?
(added pic of the part that goes under the rear spring)
