Blinker Issue and fixing a Wiper Motor
Hi,
So, my blinkers stopped working. The hazards are good, the fuses are good. Could it be the flasher relay?
Also, is there a way to fix a wiper motor? The magnets are still intact. Something tells me it's electrical. A good cleaning? Replacement parts? I'd hate to drop $100ish on a new motor if I could get this one working.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I don't think those motors are rebuildable... after 20 years, its very likely the commutator is badly worn, and the bearings are shot.
$100 sounds high, have you checked FCP Euro or Volvo Parts, Accessories and Performance Specialist Since 1963 ?
re: the blinkers, it could be the blinker relay, or it could be the turn signal switch, or the wiring. actually, if the hazards work, its probably NOT the relay, so we're down to the switch or wiring.

well, there's a ground or two at the dashboard (on a 240, its near the base of the center console where it joins the 'transmission hump', forward of the shifter, and under the carpet), and there's a ground at each light cluster. since ALL the turn signals are out, and the emergency blinkers work, the problem is more likely behind the dashboard.
I'd probably take the wiring diagrams in the 1990 240 "Greenbook", and go through the turn signal circuits, checking things with a volt meter til you find something that seems wrong, then trace backwards til you find 'right' again, and thats likely where the problem is.
the turn signal circuits /are/ a bit complex.
