Default Blinkers went out

1984 Volvo 240dl. Okay so my blinkers will randomly stop working every once in awhile. And come back on. Rinse and repeat. I've checked the fuses, tried to follow wiring, etc. and just can't figure it out. Could someone help me troubleshoot some

If you remove the plastic kick panel just to the right of your right foot on the driver side, you will be able to access the flasher relay. It is just inside the edge of the center console down there. Turn on your hazard lights and follow the sound. Next time this occurs, turn on your hazard lights. If they do not come on when your blinkers are inoperable then the flasher relay may be suspect. If they do come on, take a look at the turn signal stalk; perhaps it needs cleaning, is worn or there is a wiring issue at the plug.

The hazards never work when the blinkers go out. I will replace.

I would not use but a Hella or Meyle brand relay there. They are inexpensive enough or JY. Off brands can do weird things.

btw if you do junkyard, grab a fuel pump relay too on any 85-93 240. If you remove the outside passenger kick panel and pull back the carpet on the right side it is the white one coming out of the ECU. You will need it eventually.

idk maybe start with cleaning the fuses well

I knew an old guy that would manually flash his turn signals with the stalk. ha. Just do that. j/k.

You really just have to learn the circuit and bust out the old multimeter and figure out where the boltage goes missing.

Stribel and KAE relays are good, too, at least for the applications where they were OE (fuel pump relays are usually Stribel).
