Default Bosch MAF and Regina ATS

What is the difference in function between the Bosch mass air flow sensor and the Regina air temp sensor?

um, they are *completely* different things. one measures air mass, eg, how much air is being sucked into the engine, while the other measures the inlet air temperature.

Regina also uses a manifold air PRESSURE sensor, which measures the manifold vacuum. Regina calculates the air mass from the air temp and manifold pressure, to figure out how much fuel to squirt in, while Bosch measures the air flow directly.

The Bosch MAF uses a heated nichrome wire across the intake air, and measures the current flow through this wire. more air cools the wire faster, this changes the wires resistance, which changes the current flow. unlike earlier mechanical air flow meters that used a moving flap, the hot wire automatically compensates for the thinner air at higher elevations.

Thank you
