Default Bought a 94 940 for 400 but has some slight issues

Hi Everyone!!! It has been a LONG time since I have been on here. Bought myself a absolutely horrible 2012 focus about two years ago and have been regretting it every day. Today I was able to ****** a 94 940 for only 400 dollars. Did the usual checks and it passed so i forked over the cash. Only problems I can really tell are that it idles rough and seems to be slow on acceleration (even for a redblock). I noticed it is fitted with an EGR valve and was curious if the esteem members of this forum thought that could be the culprit?

Rough idle could be anything... You are having and engine misfire, running on less than 4 cylinders. The EGR doesn't make them slower, just, well... more complicated.
Start by curing the misfire, go from there. Make sure all tune up items are OK: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, vacuum leaks, etc. Good to start with a compression test but not a must.

The misfire seems to go away once I give it some gas. I was also thinking that the idle control valve could be giving some issues. Is there a quick and easy way to disable the EGR valve? Cant I just take the vacuum line running to it and dis connect it?

Leave the EGR alone, it doesn't cause misfires. You have a LOW SPEED miss which could be due to many things but first check for vacuum leaks. You may have a BAD EXHAUST VALVE, worse case scenario. Better check compression to make sure.
