Bought a 1991 Volvo 240 4cylinder 2.3L with 154k miles that has some lifter noise
I just bought a 1991 Volvo 240 4cylinder 2.3L with 154k miles that has some lifter noise?
Is this a easy way to repair this? Are the lifters adjustable? Any suggestions to quiet the noise down or anything? I don't see any leaks or notice any difference when driving.
Someone told me that this engine has a overhead cam and doesn't have lifters. Is that true? If so what could this, that sounds like lifters be?

Get them shimmed at a local shop or borrow the kit from IPD, also there is a little bushing under the bucket that likes to disintegrate after a few years in service, can replace those and it will quite the "lifters" down. There actual name is valve tappet or cam follower, but for all intensive purposes they are basically lifters.

Ok I did some more reading and I heard changing the valve hushers might help. I called my Volvo dealer and they did not know what that was but they sent me a picture.
Can anyone determine which part is the valve husher descibed in this article is

probably about 2 hours, You have to remove the timing belt, or at least take it off, remove the valve cover, remove the cam, pull the buckets, and then reverse put it back together.
