Brake bulb warning light won't go off
All lights are functioning and the bulbs are good. Light started coming on a few months back and I replaced the bulb. Where the brake light twist socket attaches, the brass filament seemed a bit corroded but I've changed the entire tail light assembly to another one that is not. However, when I press the brakes the lamp out light on the cluster still comes on. Any ideas? Thanks Jim
Probably a bad bulb failure relay, one can be had for less than $50 on ebay. You can also pull it out, take it apart and fix any faulty solder joints, if you're handy with a soldering iron and into saving some coin.
That light doesn't only signify brake lights. It signifies any bulb any where on the outside of the car. Is the bulb failure light always on, like from the second you start the car? Or does it come on when you do something?
Thanks, yeah I know it's for more than just the brake lights but it only comes on when I press on the brake pedal. Plus as mentioned, all lights are working. Where can I find the relay?
I've replaced the whole assembly and have had the bulb warning light come on, only with the brake pedal pushed in. I had someone hold the pedal in while I rotated the bulb socket just a little bit - the light became slightly brighter and the warning light went off.
