brake parts source for '88 240 wagon
So I just bought an '88 240 wagon a week ago and love it so far, but I need to pay some attention to the front brake pads and rotors. I suspect it has the original Volvo rotors and I've heard that they should be replaced instead of turned. Does anyone have a preferred replacement rotor and pads? What retailer has the best deals? Also, am I correct in assuming that the rotors/pads are the same for the Girling and ATE systems? I haven't even had a chance to pull the wheels off to take a close look yet. Is it more likely that the car has Girling or ATE calipers?
Another source is FCP Groton.

Front Girlings with vented rotors. Rear ATE.
The genuine Volvo pads are #271666 and $38.50, which does both front wheels. You also need the shims, hardware (for vented rotors), and silicone lube.
The genuine Volvo vented rotors are #270739 and $55 per each rotor. Brembo rotors are OK for just $35 each.

Just my input after doing complete front and rear (240 wagon). I bought everything except the front rotors at NAPA. Mainly so I could lay my old stuff next to the new to make SURE I was getting the right part. with mail order you dont know until you receive it and if it is wrong then you have to ship it back- what a pain. NAPA has all that stuff, if you order before 1:00, it is there the next morning. Look closely at the calipers, one I bought had a messed up gasket and blasted fluid when I went to bleed! I know it might not be hig performance- but hey this is a 240 wagon after all...Dave
