a/c cooling

Default a/c cooling

I have a 1990 240dl, love the car.......

but, the a/c does not cool very well, i have evac and recharged it to properly

does vovlo make a aux fan!!!!!!!!!!

it takes about 30 mins of driving for it cool, of course i live texas where its 100 deg


any clues

There are many aftermarket fans made, try ackits.com,but that may not be your problem. Any idea what your high and low side pressure readings, and vent temps are?

well i did not check the pressures, i bought it and it was low on freon, i filled it
and drove it for a month, waiting for a leak, i did find the leak at shradder vavle on the compressor, repaired and perfromed a evac and recharge.....

it cooled execellent before i did a recharge??????

It could be a lot of things, over or under charge, air or water contamination etc. Did you charge with R-12 ,which is what it was originally charged with, or has it been converted to 134a?

The A/C systems in the 240 weren't the best.
I always find that you need to drop a little off what the sticker holds.
Also if the sticker is a R-12 sticker and it has R-134a in it you only need to put 70% of the freon in that is says.
I think the 1990 might have had a fan Look behind the grill and see if there is one there.
