Car wash tore up my baby....
I have an '89 240 gl I was driving into the carwash and the she just turned off and will not turn back on. the engine will turn as if its is out of gas, but the gas tank is 3/4 full i dont know if its not getting fire or fuel. Lmk if you can help.
Get a can of engine starting fluid, spray a good 4 second blast down the FPR vac hose to feed ether into the intake, see if it splutters or runs on the ether for a few seconds.
Thats about the quickest way I have to find out if I'm getting spark,
unless you have a timing light or spark plug tester.?
If it fires up on the ether try swapping the 2 relays on the engine coolant bottle, one controls the injectors.
If no joy, check the pump relay and fuse #1,
does the relay click on and off ( 2 seconds) when the key is advanced to start?
If it doesn't fire on the ether get a cheap timong light and test the coil.
You need to isolate first whether its fuel, injectors or spark, then take it from there.
On the bright side I find it easier to diagnose a non runner than an engine that fires up when you drag the tools out.
