A clunk in the front left suspension?
It's a '92 240 and I changed the shocks and the big rubber thing on top (after changing the original shocks didn't help), and I checked the tightness of the obvious suspention bolts and the anti roll bar for tightness. Is there an easy way to pack the top with a spacer or something, I would hate to take it all off again. Any ideas? It is only over bumps.
Thanks Tech, I didn't really check it properly I will look again. It's probably not so much of a clunk as a knock over bumps just loud enough to be annoying. A friend sugested that the original was probably worn and loose in the 'insert holder' and the new Monroe sports shock is probably just not the right tightness because it is not made by Volvo? Does that sound right to you? Steve
Thats where it gets Funny.
There could be the wrong insert.
There was different things with the inserts.
If you put turbo ones you need to remove an insert.
The othes really don't by brand the nut will hold tight.

The control arm bushings seem fine, and the right hand one is quiet, so the insert is probably appropriate , I might try tightening up the top nut again and all of the other things around there and around the wheel. Thanks Tech.
Hi, I have had the same clunk with my 99 S70, just found out the LH front bush on control arm is busted ,having real problems finding affordable replacement part, mechanics are suggesting full control arm replacement (original parts vey expensive in N.Z.), other mechanic suggests that he can remove the bush and get local engineering shop to rebuild, any thoughts please.
