Default Clutch problem

I was driving in my manual 1989 Volvo 240DL. Downshifting from 4th, when all of the pressure from my clutch dissapeared. I do Only have a small amount of pressure in the clutch. How do I diagnose the problem, I’m just at a parking lot now.

Off hand I would say the clutch cable broke. Does the peddle go to the floor with very little pressure. Can you drive the car. Does it go into gear when the engine is running.

the peddle has very little pressure, I cannot drive it or put it into gear while the car is running. Only when it’s off.

yup, broken clutch cable. the Bentley 240 repair manual should have the procedure for replacing it, afaik its pretty simple but our 240 was a automatic, so I've never done one (done a few VW clutch cables in the distant past, however).
