clutch replacement... Having an issue.
so I'm abiut to drop the tranny. The only thing holding the transmission and the engine together is the clutch cable. I'm having trouble knowing how to release the cable at the fork. Bentley says the adjustment nut should allow some room for removal. ANd the diagram they show has an adjustment nut, but on my car the same nut seems to be made of a durable rubber. It will not turn, it just smashes when I put the 21mm wrench on it.
How do you disconnect the cable?

so I got the cable off, removed the bottom 2 bolts.....
now what? I wasn't expecting the tranny to be stuck to the engine. It won't come off. Any tricks I should try?
removed starter (2), exhaust bolts (2) top bolts (2) bottom bolts (2)? Am I missing something? Can't see anything holding this up.
thanks
EDIT- JUST NOTICED THAT MY BELL HOUSING HAS A BUNCH OF HAIRLINE CRACKS??? SHOULD I BE WORRIED?

Whew. What a job this has been.
Mistake number 1. Picked the smallest garage in philadelphia (one of my friends).
finally coerced the tranny to come off of the engine. I thought it would fall right off after the bolts were out. Not so. The release bearing looks to be in terrible shape, the clutch was destroyed, flywheel and pressure plate look like have "blue spots" as described by Bentley.
Here's a couple of questions.
1: Where can get the wiring that runs from the reverse light switch (on top of the tranny) to the connector that is on the left panel. Mine had a ton of bare wire and looked to be in terrible shape.
2: those hairline cracks in bell housing??? where did those come from and how concering are they?
3: Talked to a machine shop today about getting flywheel done. They said that on some Volvo's it can't be done. He didn't know what year/models/etc. He just said that some can't be done because of how the flywheel was built. Anyone know anything about this? Has anyone had any trouble getting a flywheel resurfaced on a late 80s flywheel? (88 specifically)
Thanks for any help!
