I'm looking to find the part that holds the spring you see completely corroded here.

I knew it'd go but I kinda forgot about that before I piled all my friend into the car. I really like this car and would hate to have to scrap it

 

google around for a rear "spring perch"

 

is that a 240 or 740/940? they have different rear suspension arrangements.

here's the trailing arm for a 740/940,



part 22 is the whole trailing arm, including the spring perch. part 21 is a rubber spring seat that sits on the perch, and 18-19-20 hold the top of the spring to the rear subframe rails.

this drawing shows how the swing arm '1' (same as 22 above) is mounted via bushing 2, and rubber pads 7 supporting the rear axle via clamp 8

 

a 240 has a similar trailing arm with integral spring perch, but the arm is on a rather different sort of pivot where it attaches to the frame, and I think its a bit different on how the axle mounts to the trailing arm. I don't seem to have those pictures handy.

 

Thank you for the information I'm on the search for the parts I'm pretty new to mechanics I previously did a brake line job on it and am hoping to keep my 740 in good shape.

 

lets see, for my former 1992 740 turbo wagon, the trailing arm is part 1359114 (same on each side)... yeah, that fits all the 740/940 as well as non-IRS 760-960.

appears to be NLA from Volvo, so you'll probably have to find NOS or used parts, I didn't find anything on a quick search of ebay, so its probably Pick-n-Pull time...
