Question What wheel fits with this cap?

Hi,

I have bought a set of original steel wheel caps for my volvo 740 for which I have a set of steel 14" volvo (it seems) wheels.
However, the caps don't fit (they don't "latch on"), so I am looking to buy wheels that will work, but here's the question: what wheels will work with these?
Please see the attached photos.
Also, how does the middle small cap stay on the larger cap? When not on a wheel they are just loose, there is no latching mechanism etc.
And finally - by the look of it I'm not even 100% sure these are 14" caps judging by how they don't align with the edge of the wheel.

14" wheels that I have.

Cap on the wheel - see alignment around the edge.

How does the small part stay attached to the bigger part?

Thanks a lot for any insight.

Miki

the three metal tabs on the cover fit over a raised lip around the wheel center hole, then the center cap is pushed into place, forcing the tabs to clamp onto the lip.
the wheels that i have on my 240 have a raised center lip which is what the cap tabs attach to, your wheel doesn't have the lip.

Could you maybe post a photo of the wheels that you have on your 240? I would like to know exactly what to look for.
What about the little cap? Does it latch-on somehow when the big cap is installed on a wheel?

the center cap gets pushed into the wheel cover center and forces the tabs to pinch the wheel center lip, as stated.

I have found a good source of information - an old Volvo manual shows exactly what wheel fits with this cap.

Does anyone know what ET are the wheels in this photo?

You can see that the holes in the wheel are much bigger than in my wheels, wider than the "spokes" that connect the center with the rim of the wheel.

Another question is - is it exclusively this wheel that will work with my cap.
