COOOOL again
After an absence of about two years I now have my air conditioning back in full working order. And what a relief it is ,too.
I managed to buy a used compressor from a fellow forumer on the Volvo Owners Club forum who had dismantled another 1998 Celebration Estate identical to my own.The Donor car had covered only approx 38,000 miles, and the compressor had been sitting in a box for some years, untouched.
Any way I purchased it and a replacement alternator for £50.00 and had the compressor fitted and regassed together with a new drier. But it didnt work.No power to the compressor apparently. After a lot of cable continuity checks, fuse searches and relay searches etc I traced the fault to a faulty solder joint on the PCB within the heater control unit.Once |I had resoldered this Hey Presto the compressor clutch kicked in and the car now feels like a fridge again.
Fantastic.
