curious about a 89' 240 Gl
I have recently came across a 1989 240Gl with close to 85,000 miles on it. The asking price is $2,700, and i was curious if this is reasonable. In addition, the fact that it only has 85,000 mi on it had me asking questions, but i have yet to speak to the individual posting the ad. So, what is should be aware for when investigating this vehicle/ any additional info I should know. Any info on how safe the car is in a crash

The mileage on the car is pretty low for the vintage. Still, I think the price is a bit high. Take a look on Craigslist for your area to see what old volvos are going for. In the Chicago area, 240s, 740s, 940s all languish for weeks if the price is above $1500. Below that price, they seem to move pretty quickly dependent on the condition. Wagons tend to bring a little bit more than sedans.
The main thing to check for is rust. Check under the carpets, around the wheel wells, etc. The normal places for cars to rust out. Also check the overall condition of the car. Is the interior nice. Does it drive smooth and handle well. Does it shift smooth. Are there rattles or strange noises. Do all the accessories work - lights, windshield wipers, etc.
If you are not mechanically inclined, have a local volvo mechaninc check it out before you buy.
Good luck
