Curious Question - Green Tint?
Not really a problem today - just a curious question:
Do some models have this subtle colored tint on their windows? - I swear mine are this faint green - almost to match the exterior paint.
My wife says I'm losing it, which may also be the case.

Good question and the answer is no. I too thought I had some sort of tint on the windows when I first got the car. You can see it pretty clearly on a sunny day if you roll the window half way down. When looking through the glass stuff was deffinatly less bright than when looking above it. I came to the conclusion thats its just the glass. I think you only notice it since your thinking about it. My parents green honda looks liek it has that "tint" aswell, but it does not.
I recently had the misfortune of a break-in. My passenger window was shattered and glass was everywhere. The shattered pieces looked extremely green. When it came time to replacing the window I used a mobile replacement company and asked myself "what if the glass is not green? and doesnt match?". When I looked at the invoice for my window, the part did say "green tint". I do think that it is green.....when normal class is shattered, it usually just looks clear...
If their was tint is would not shatter, tint holds it together. Where the pieces lying on a dark color?
I could be completly wrong, but how do you slightly tint a window. Tint is film put on the window itself. I know mecedes is now putting a very light blue tint on their cars, but you can deffinatly tell its tinted. Im going to assume that the "green tint" is somthing in the glass itself, and if thats the case it should have come on all the models.

To set the record straight and to use fact and reasoning with this issue, let's go way back in time kids before the after market came to fruition with a deep and dark tint to add to autos. In the 50's there was no such thing as a 'tinted film' on the market. So, let's stay in the 50's for a moment. An individual could order an auto with this marvelous option called.........you got it.............tinted glass. It was a colouring agent introduced into the glass when it was molded into the appropriate glass. If you did not order that option, then you suffered with clear glass. Next point. Do you truly believe that the 'tint' at the top of your windscreen is a film?? If so you must be smoking something funny. A 'tinted windshield' kids is simply adyeadded to the manufacturing process so as to cut down on the sun blinding you. So,to set the record straight, the 'tint' that is in auto windows is simply dye that is added to the glass when it is molded and from that, you can add a dark tint at your local Zeibart dealer. Yes Virginia, you truly have 'green' glass. Glass 101 is now over.
