I have this 1984 240 gl that is giving some problems. The technician said that it is necesary to change the ECU. The problem: I live in central america (Honduras) and it is not easy to get an used ECU or neither a new one. So I will have to use other methods, maybe ebay
The big question is this: How do I know the exact model of the ECU that my car needs?

You need to pull your old one and get the numbers off of it and look for one that is the same.

You might but I doubt it.

 

I changed the ECU, don't needed the VIN and the car is working fine again
