Hello,

I have a 1977 244 manual. It idle's smooth, cruises smooth, but knocks/rattles when accel. (passing, up inclines etc.) New plugs, clean fluids & filters, tried different octanes, etc. runs like a charm but can't figure out the knocking. Any ideas/tips would be greatly appreciated

 

I would start by checking/adjusting the base timming. Take a close look at the vacuum line attached to the distributor for cracks, etc.

 

cap & rotor; also ck the ignition timing.
