Engine Tick
i just brought my 940 to the shop to get the fuel line replaced, they replaced it with genuine Volvo parts, and it was running fine as well as the fuel system is concerned, new filter as well. However today after running it for about a half hour in 80 degree weather, i went under the hood with the car running to check it out. Its always had a knock since Ive had the far for the last 3000 miles, but now i can hear a tick. Ive never noticed it before, and it seems like every time i bring the car to this shop, or any shop for that matter, the idle is a little bit unsteady when i get it back, and now this.. Any chance that this will smooth out just because of the recently new parts, timing belt and fuel line? Im heading on my 2100 mile cross country trip in 2 weeks. I need it to be as good as possible..
Serious question- what's the difference between a knock and a tick???
I have a 245 that I would describe as having a tick. It is most apparent at about 2100 rpm (around 55mph in 5th). maybe it's a knock though. I just drove it over 2000 miles for the past 2 days and it worked great though. I'd pay someone some good money to fix that tick though. Hopefully it's nothing, but peace of mind is always a good thing.
