Even more Questions 940(Regina) Non-turbo
Ok, well I did the relay test using jumpers and everything tested fine, I also grounded 1B and low speed worked, and grounded 2B and high speed worked, flawlessly might I add.
And since the fan turns on high I guess that means the fan thermoswitch works, but my low doesn't work so thats pointing me towards one or all of the pressure sensors? Which I'm guessing would also be why the fan doesn't turn on with the a/c on?
If thats the case, is there any way I can test the pressure sensor, as far as seeing what ohms they read or what? Also, I noticed you didn't mention the purple sensor? what is it used for exactly? Just something not related to the fan at all?

The purple sensor is wired to the AC controls, its the 'over pressure' switch (probably shuts the compressor off).
all three of these are 'pressurestats', they are simple on/off switches. Ditto the regina thermostat on the top side of the radiator, its closed for too hot, open otherwise.
you can short the two wires together at any of the sensors to verify the circuit continuity.
does your AC actually work? If you're getting cold air, but the fan never comes on low, I'd guess the grey low pressure/low speed pressure-stat is dead. AFAIK, changing those requires evacuating the AC system first, then pumping a hard vacuum before refilling the AC.

Ohh ok, I'll short the wires on the grey sensor and make sure the wiring is good, if the wiring is good then a new sensor will be next on my long list of things to buy haha.
And yes the a/c works, which I didn't expect it to since the PO said he didn't think it would work(but he had never driven it). But anyway, it worked pretty well and got decently cool, and I wanted to put some fresh freon or propane in it anyway just because I'm sure it needs it.
Are all of those sensor the same, or interchangeable? Because neither oreillys nor autozone carries the grey switch, autozone can order the brown or purple one, and oreillys can order the purple one, so if I use the brown one will it work the same as the grey one or do they work at different pressures?
Thanks Pierce, you keep me with things to do and check haha

pretty sure they are different pressures.
I nearly NEVER get euro car parts at chain stores. ok, let me look these up.
pressurestat - violet - pn 6848534
pressurestat - grey - pn 6848532
pressurestat - brown - pn 6848533
all 3 of these use o-ring 3537501
as I understand it, the violet one closes when the pressure is TOO HIGH
the grey one opens when there's some minimal low pressure, and the brown one when there's higher pressure. I just checked, fcpeuro doesn't have these.... er, yes they do.

ouch, kinda pricey.

Yeah that's what I noticed after I started looking them up and I'm not a fan of those places for anything honestly, but they were made by the same manufacturer santech so I figured it would be alright ya know, but looks like I'll be taking a trip to pull a part again here soon haha... I should just go ahead and live there!
