Default Firing order/plug wiring for a 92 B230F

I made the rookie mistake of removing plug wires without noting what went to where. I've looked online and even here on these forums (https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...g-order-61480/ for example) and while they're helpful to an extend there is one small difference in the diagrams I've seen. My distributor is oriented with two parallel terminals in the back and two in the front. Most diagrams I've seen have them in a diamond formation so I'm not sure which terminal on mine corresponds to which terminal on those. Can some kind soul look at this diagram and tell me which distributor terminal corresponds to which number piston, starting with the pink terminal and going clockwise?

Thanks!

Here's another diagram with numbers on the distributor. Note that your diagram has the #1 cylinder highlighted in pink.

Notice that there is an arrow on your original diagram. Once you know the firing order, you pick the appropriate #1 and the rest are in the firing sequence.

Hope that this helps.

that first diagram also has the pistons numbered wrong. #1 is always the one in front, #4 in back.

if you're unsure which is #1 on the distributor, set the engine for TDC via the timing marks on the crank pulley, and pull he distributor cap, the rotor should be pointing at #1 or #4. if the timing mark on the camshaft timing pulley is also at the mark, then its pointing to #1

Wow, I didn't even notice the numbering on the pistons. Good thing I pulled up another diagram! You can't believe everything that you read.

The numbers on my diagram were purely for labeling and not representative of actual piston numbers.

For informational purposes, here is the correct numbering and a clear illustration of which wire goes where.

If the wires are on backwards would the car still run???
I'm sorry. I'm not a mechanic Obviously but I have a couple of questions and nobody to ask so I'm asking you guys. All of the diagrams show the 4 dots you know pretty much in a complete box shape mine is almost a diamond the way the distributor is lined app doesn't look like the diagrams I Don't Know if that makes any sense but that's The Way I got it it ran fine like that and I've done all kinds of work but it still doesn't Run right I Don't Know how it would have got out a little shift You Know like it is But I've never messed with the distributor other than recently

No. Years ago, you would adjust the ignition timing by turning the distributor, and line up the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley with those on the plastic cam belt cover. In your 92 240 - the distributor is fixed - but others may have removed the device that prevents the distributor from turning. Hopefully not - but have seen that (many years ago) many times.

The ignition timing and injector pulses are controlled by the engine speed sensor in your car.

92 and 93 are the same.

The distributor is bolted into the redblock. (13mm headed bolt)

There is a slot in the distributor base (at that bolt) that is filled to prevent the distributor from turning. (unless someone has remove the filler)
