fuel pump off ebay, are they all the same?
hello there,
I need a fuel pump and i have decided to purchase it off ebay( as they are cheaper), and i was wondering what kind of pump i am need to buy. i am entirely broke so I thought i would have my friend install it. there are some really cheap fuel pumps (25 bucks new - 80 bucks) would the cheap ones work for 1990 740 turbo wagon w/intercooler? do the turbo wagons need a different pump than the non turbos?
I really appreciate your help!
Olivia

The actual PUMP is just a little el. motor which usually can be wired in the old unit, and there is no reason to pay an arm and a leg for it. How handy is your friend? Price is quite variable but I 'd be perfectly comfortable with a used one... go cheap!
i would rather not spend that much on it. If i can get away with just spending 25 dollars i would rather do that. I was just wanting to make sure that the turbo feul pumps are the same as the non turbo. some of the more expensive pumps state that they can be used in a turbo. I will be purchasing a new one.
thanks!
thanks!
Somthngfrce,
I see your point now. they are different! crud. the volvo mechanic said that my car needed a fuel pump, he did not tell me which one though. he did say that it would be around 500 bucks to fix so maybe it is the main one. is there a way to tell? the problem is my car often has a hard time starting if it has sat for a bit. it starts but sometimes i have to give it a ton of gas to get it to stay on
